I have seen a few of these teacup fascinators about and with Halloween coming up, thought I would give it a go! It is really easy and does not require anything unusual or hard to get hold of.
What you will need
2 packs of playing cards, I got mine from Poundland, 2 packs for £1
Double sided sticky tape
Circle of card
Silicone glue, I used Pinflair
Circle of felt
A cotton bud
Stick the next card onto the circle so that the edge is touching the edge of the original card. Once this is in place turn the cards round and repeat, so you are left with an X.
Repeat the second process again so you have 8 playing cards stuck together as above. This will be the saucer part of our teacup fascinator. We have finished with this for now so you can put this to one side.
Now we are going to start making the teacup part. You will need 8 playing cards for this. Organise the cards how you want them, I chose to alternate them but you can arrange them however you wish. Using the double sided tape stick the cards next to each other on a slight angle as above. Repeat this process until all 8 cards are stuck together.
Here is a shot from above to show you how to overlap the cards.
Now take the saucer we made first, using a pencil trace over where the cup will fit. Once you know where you want to attach it, use your silicone type glue and put a few blobs onto the saucer. Then put your cup on top and use a cotton bud or similar to spread the glue onto the inside of the cup and under the join.
Attach the bottom of the handle with double sided tape, then curl the top part over and attach with tape. I secured this with a peg to make sure it stuck.
Once you have attached your handle, you can put your tissue paper inside the cup to hide the glue at the bottom. I just applied a small amount of silicone glue to the edges of inside the cup.
Now for the final stages. Turn your cup and saucer over and take your headband. Using silicone glue apply a good amount onto the circle of card. Then take your headband and decide where you want it, stick the headband into the glue.
Once the headband is attached to the card, take your circle of felt, which should be roughly the same size as the card circle and apply silicone glue to the felt, then stick this over the top of the headband and card.
This will need to be left overnight to dry completely. And voila, you have a Queen of Hearts style teacup fascinator.
